Serving on the Omaha Public School Board would be a privilege and an opportunity.  My experiences and skills as a lawyer and a teacher make me uniquely able to represent you as a proactive OPS Board member.  I will dedicate my passion for education to create a learning environment that motivates all students to be eager learners.  And I will dedicate my skills as a bond financing lawyer to supervise the financial decisions made by OPS.

I am a lifelong resident of Omaha, with many years of personal and professional experience in public schools [teaching high school social studies for more than 18 years and raising two daughters who graduated from Central High School.  I have an in-depth perspective about what is working – and what needs to be improved – in the Omaha Public Schools system – and the full-time and know-how to make it happen.

Before I began my teaching career, I practiced bond financing law at Kutak Rock for 22 years.  My training as a bond finance lawyer and partner in the law firm make me uniquely able to be a proactive member of the OPS Board, balancing a budget of more than $600,000,000, educating more than 50,000 students and supervising over 7,000 full time employees.

My commitment to public education is obvious.  My legal career and bond financing expertise, together with my participation in district-wide curriculum, assessment and administrative committee work, representation of teachers as a board member for the OEA, are the essential skills necessary to best represent the Omaha community and create eager learners for tomorrow’s workforce.
